The trick to landing big kob usually entails having the right tackle and bait, technique, tides and a good measure of luck.
Another key factor to consider is weather, since fish have slightly different ideas of what conditions are best for ‘fishing’.
This is exactly what recent Houseboats guests Conrad and Chantelle Esztergomi from PE did when the weather promised to be windy and rainy, by persevering and making the best of the conditions. And did it pay off!
So off they went to find a good spot sheltered from the wind, and to catch some live bait along the way.
With a lekka on-board Weber braai for heat and dinner, and cozy cabin to keep dry, they were at the right place at the right time to lay into a number of younger kob (all were released) as the shoals came past.
And then it happened… Weeks of planning paid off with a beautiful kob of est 13kg! Great stuff Conrad!
This just goes to show, that those willing to brave the weather could be rewarded with some nice fish.
